Youtube is ethical in its dealings in the media industry to a certain but limited extent. There are laws on the Youtube which states that unauthorised, unapproved and indecent videos will be removed when found. But it is hard for the Youtube to completely force out every copyrighted and obscene video as there is a large number of videos being uploaded everyday and it is virtually impossible to keep an eye on every one of them.
Recently, there is the case of Youtube being sued by several companies that they are allowing copyrighted videos to be posted and shown on their website and Youtube is protesting their innocence, claiming that they do not know that the videos are under copyright laws.
Actually, i feel that they are not in the wrong as they have no control over what people over the world post on the website and that they have no idea as to which videos are under copyright laws, unless they undergo the tedious task of checking every video. It is instead the people who must be ethical in what they post on the website, as i feel that Youtube is trying its best already.
We must not abuse our freedom of posting what we want on Youtube, and make Youtube a place of legal entertainment where people can enjoy watching interesting and their favourite videos efficiently online. But perhaps, Youtube should put the videos being uploaded under stricter checks, to ensure uploaded videos are legal.
